What is it? If you fancy long, luscious lashes without the hassle of curling them and applying copious amounts of mascara, then it's time to invest in some semi-permanent eye lashes. Liberating your eye make-up regime for up to six weeks at a time, these super – fine man-made fibres – which are shaped just like lashes, are carefully applied one by one to create a dramatic effect.
Where? Dollyleo, 22 Raeburn Place, 0131-315 2035, www.dollyleo.co.uk. A full set of false eyelashes costs £160 for the initial procedure and £30 maintenance every month.

What happens? After an initial consultation, make-up artist Sadie Jean Sloss painstakingly applies individual false lashes to each existing eye lash, building up depth, volume and length. Entirely painless and quite relaxing, two hours later inky thick Bambi lashes result.

Was it worth it? "The result was amazing," admits our tester. "I've always been teased for having pea eyes when I don't wear mascara, so I've been looking for a hassle-free way to appear 'done' without spending ages with eyeliner and mascara. This is it. It took just under two hours as Sadie put on every individual eyelash, one by one – but I left with longer , thicker eyelashes that looked fantastic. My eyes had more definition and it brought out the colour of them too. I've already booked my maintenance."
